Our Results

We are committed to providing the best possible retinal care for each and every patient, and we understand the anxiety patients have when faced with a sight treathening problem. We strive to inspire confidence in the treatment patients receive, and invite them to discuss our past experiences in treating similar problems.

Below are some examples of patients we have treated and the success we have had.

Central Serous Chorioretinopathy (CSCR)

CSCR

Condition

A 52 year old male presents with chronic blurry vision and distortion of the left eye. OCT and angiography confirmed a diagnosis of central serous chorioretinopathy. The OCT image prior to treatment is shown on the left.

Treatment

Focal laser treatment was performed over the area of leakage.

Outcome

The OCT image on the right above shows resolution of the subretinal fluid after laser treatment. The patient had a marked improvement in vision.

Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

AMD

Condition

A 62 year old female presents with decreased vision of the right eye with visual acuity of 20/100. A diagnosis of wet AMD was confirmed based on angiography and OCT image as seen on the left above. The OCT depicts pigment epithelial detachment, subretinal fluid and exudate, with cystoid macular edema.

Treatment

The patient underwent monthly intravitreal Avastin injections.

Outcome

The patient had a remarkable improvement in visual acuity to 20/30. The OCT image above on the right shows resolution of the abnormal findings after Avastin treatment.

Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment (RRD)

RRD

Condition

A 46 year old female presented with inferior visual field loss. Examination revealed a superior retinal detachment with retinal holes. The fundus photo on the left shows superior retinal detachment with subretinal fluid.

Treatment

Urgent surgery was performed with pars plana vitrectomy, endolaser and gas.

Outcome

The patient had marked improvement after surgery. The fundus photo on the right shows the retina was completely attached.

Macular Hole (MH)

MH

Condition

A 63 year-old female presented with decreased vision and visual acuity of 20/400 in the right eye. Examination and OCT revealed a full-thickness macular hole as shown on the left above.

Treatment

Surgery was recommended to the patient and she underwent delicate macular hole repair surgery with pars plana vitrectomy, peeling of the internal limiting membrane, and gas.

Outcome

Following surgery and after the initial recovery period, the vision improved to 20/30 in this eye. The OCT image on the right shows closure of the macular hole.

Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)

DME

Condition

A 48 year-old female with diabetes presented with blurry vision and visual acuity of 20/80. Angiography and OCT confirmed significant diabetic macular edema as shown on the left image with numerous cystic changes and exudates within the retina.

Treatment

A series of intravitreal Avastin injections followed by combination Avastin and Kenalog treatment was performed.

Outcome

Her vision improved to 20/30. The OCT image on the right shows the dramatic resolution of the cystoid edema with return of the normal foveal contour.

Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR)

PDR

Condition

A 65 year old male presents with decreased vision of only hand motion in the left eye. Examination revealed a dense vitreous hemorrhage from proliferative diabetic retinopathy, as demonstrated by the ultrasound on the left.

Treatment

The patient underwent small incision 23 gauge Pars Plana Vitrectomy with Endolaser.

Outcome

Post-operatively, there was complete resolution of the vitreous hemorrhage as shown by the fundus photo on the right with dramatic improvement in vision to 20/40.
